Our Mission

Why Evergreen exists

Evergreen Preparatory School prepares the children of Dubai's diplomatic, official, and international business community to think carefully, work honestly, and act with regard for the people around them — in small classes, on a secure campus, with the discretion these families rely on.

That is the whole of the mission. Everything else on this site is an account of how we try to live up to it.

Our Philosophy

What we believe about learning

Students learn by doing difficult things with support, not by watching someone else do them. Our classrooms are built around that: discussion over lecture, projects over worksheets, revision over one-shot assessment.

Engagement is the precondition, not the reward

A student who is not engaged is not learning, whatever the gradebook says. We would rather spend the first week of a unit earning genuine interest than spend six weeks managing compliance.

Small is a means, not the point

Small classes matter because of what they let a teacher do — notice, adjust, follow up, and know when a student is struggling for reasons that have nothing to do with the material.

Discretion is part of care

Many of our families live public lives. At school their children are simply students. We guard who attends and how to reach them, keep the campus gated and calm, and treat every family's privacy as part of the duty of care we owe the child.

Character is taught the same way as calculus

Our History

Two decades, briefly

A short history of the school.

2009

Evergreen opens its doors

Eleven founding families — several attached to consulates and international firms — opened Evergreen with 38 students in a converted villa in Jumeirah, offering preschool through third grade.

2013

Middle School added

Growing demand carried the school through fifth grade and into a dedicated Middle School, and Evergreen moved to its present campus.

2016

International accreditation earned

Evergreen earned full accreditation from the Council of International Schools after a two-year self-study and site visit, and is licensed by Dubai's KHDA.

2019

The science and arts building opens

A new building added two science labs, a maker space, and a music room, and let the Upper School take shape.

2022

The first senior class graduates

Nineteen seniors — several of whom had been at Evergreen since preschool — made up the first graduating class, with every student admitted to universities in the UK, US, and Europe.

Today

Evergreen today

Evergreen now enrolls 264 students across four divisions from preschool through twelfth grade, and is planning a second athletics field and an expanded library.

Governance

Board of Trustees

Evergreen is governed by a volunteer board responsible for the school's mission, finances, and the appointment of the Head of School.

Governance. The Board meets six times a year and is responsible for the school's mission, finances, and the appointment of the Head. Trustees may be reached through the main office.
